My issues with beauty counters vs baby and buggy

I am a full time beauty blogger as well as a full time mother. I try and keep them as separate as possible but sometimes I need to take the little one with me to the beauty counter to have a look at the new products. This is the joy of being a military wife and having no family on your door step to help. I try not to do this as I know it is very boring for the little one, but needs must.

I have recently experienced polar opposite customer service from staff members from particular department stores. Let me start with the positive. I recently attended Selfridges, Birmingham and the customer service was second to none. The baby decided to have a bit of a shouting episode which is always very embarrassing but the staff were simply amazing. They bent over backwards to ensure that we both were ok and ensured my shopping experience is first class. It was overwhelming the staff were amazing and made me feel at ease. I can imagine every day they have to deal with difficult children which I can only guess sometimes gives them a headache but, they did not make me feel like that. I left the store with my head held high and very happy.

However, I had the complete opposite experience in a Debenhams trip - apparently, I had my invisibility cloak on that day I was ignored (the baby was behaving that day and fast asleep). I was ignored, it was almost like my money was not good enough to be taken. The staff just continued to gossip with each other and continued to look over at me but no one approached. It was incredibly frustrating for the staff to treat me in this way just because I have a baby. I do not walk around with a t-shirt that states I am a beauty blogger this is my job and I have money to spend just as well as the next customer.

So, in conclusion the store where I assumed I would potentially get treated badly I was so wrong Selfridges had amazing customer service and support with knowledgeable staff who even attempted to appease my little one and Debenhams well it was just a disappointment I was judged just because I have a child - you should be ashamed of yourself Debenhams !!
